Soil pests and pathogens can be transported to clean sites on muddy boots. This property is infected with Potato Cyst Nematodes. Originally from South America, this nematode was introduced into Europe in the 1880s and spread to Western Australia in 1986. This pest is subjected to strict quarantine regulations wherever it occurs and rigorous on-farm sanitation measures need to be implemented.
